The role of climate information is an increasingly important but poorly understood topic in the field of adaptation. Originally designed to test and demonstrate the theory of climate change, climate projections have only recently been asked to serve as a basis of decision making and planning. This paper dissects the typical climate science concepts and describes the key sources of uncertainty in climate change projections. Furthermore, this paper addresses the complications and miscommunications that exist with interpreting climate knowledge globally and locally and how we might move forward to ensure that climate information is used realistically and by decision-makers.
