Nguyen Vinh Quang

Ph.D. in Forest and Forest Products Sciences

Dr. Nguyen Vinh Quang obtained a Ph.D. in Forest and Forest Products Sciences from Kyushu University, Japan in 2008; an M.Sc. in Social Development from Ateneo de Manila University, the Philippines in 2003; and a B.A. in Business Administration from National Economics University, Vietnam in 1997. Mr Quang has strong experiences and understanding of Vietnam’s political system, policies and contexts on socioeconomic development, natural resources management, and climate change. He also has sixteen years of experience designing and conducting research on urban, rural and upland development and climate change in Vietnam. He has been in positions of project and programme management, regional coordinator, and consulting team leader of International and National Research Institutes, International Organizations, and NGOs (like Vietnam’s National Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development—IPSARD, European Forest Institute—EFI, FAO, UNDP, ActionAid International--AAV, The Netherlands Development Organisation—SNV, Forest Trends. Mr Quang has recently worked on the issues of impacts of urbanization, Reductions of Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+), Payment for Ecological Services (PES), and Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT).
