Jorhat, India is thriving and rapidly developing urban area situated along the banks of the Brahmaputra River in northeast Assam. Current climate hazards, floods, and irregularities in the monsoon negatively impact resident?s lives, livelihoods and the economy. Current land-use development patterns and urbanization processes, coupled with climate change will increase the city?s risk of suffering harm during future climate hazard events. It is quite likely that there will be greater rainfall variability, which could trigger both droughts and floods in the same years, and have impacts on crop production.
