ISET has had an interest in India since it's very beginnings, when Dr. Moench, the Director, first went there as a Fulbright scholar. Most projects and programs led by ISET have focused on India as one of the countries of action, through partnerships and collaborations with existing Indian grassroots organizations and individuals. In 2005, an ISET Associate worked under the framework of Janvikas, a well-established development organization located in Ahmedabad, (Gujarat, India) that provides a support system for public causes, for institutional building and for strengthening civil society rights-based initiatives. The idea was to enable ISET-India to be established after a full year of operation under Janvikas. Administrative hurdles have, however, slowed progress in setting up an ISET-India.

ISET has three Associates based in India working on a number of projects concurrently, and ISET is a recognized presence in India. They continue to work towards establishing ISET-India as a registered organization in India. Our active projects ongoing in India now are the Rockefeller funded Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Program; and the two NOAA funded urban water projects in Indore and in Jaipur.
